Common uses
Tadalis (Tadalafil) is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, that is used as a treatment for sexual-function problems like impotence or erectile dysfunction. Basically it works by inducing the flow of blood into the penis, so much so that with sexual stimulation and this drug’s reaction, penile erection is achieved and maintained. Only a stimulant, this drug will not protect you against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) including the HIV-AIDS infection; you are better off using condoms and other safe sex precautions. This drug is for the male sex, and is not intended for use of women and children.
Precautions before use
Take care in the use of this drug as it may not react positively with other medicines or medical conditions you may have. It may cause serious, adverse reactions to nitroglycerin and other nitrates like nitroprusside, isosorbide, or any nitric oxide donor medicine. It will not work well also with recreational drugs or “poppers” containing these active ingredients: butyl or amyl nitrate.
You should not take Tadalis with other alpha-blocker medicines like alfuzosin, doxazosin, prazosin, and terazosin. You should monitor closely your dosage or condition if you are taking any other erectile dysfunction medicine or other antifungal medicines like itraconazole or ketoconazole. Take care also in the case of use of macrolide antibiotics such as clarithromycin or erythromycin, high blood pressure and hypersensitivity medicines, and HIV protease inhibitors like ritonavir or indinavir.
Common sense dictates that you do not commence or stop taking medicine without your doctor’s advice. Contact your physician immediately of any other medical conditions that may arise or are pre-existing, including problems with the penis, a history of prolonged or painful erections, heart problems, kidney problems, stomach ulcers, bleeding problems, blood cell problems such as sickle cell anemia and leukemia, eye diseases like retinitis pigmentosa of the retina, high blood pressure, and even allergies.
Don’t touch Tadalis if you have a medical history of angina pectoris (recurring chest pains), heart attack or stroke, low or high blood pressure, liver problems, or if you have been previously advised to limit or refrain from sexual activity due to health problems.
Directions for use
Take Tadalis orally before sexual activity as needed or as advised by your doctor. Daily dose is limited to once only. If you are taking other medicines, this drug’s dosage may have to be limited to only once every two or three days. Consult your doctor for the proper dosage information. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach, during meals, or after meals.
Keep containers tightly closed and store at room temperature of 77 degrees Farenheit (25 degrees Celsius) away from heat and light. Storage for brief durations at 59 to 86 degrees Farenheit (15 to 30 degrees Celsius) is allowed.
Other precautions
Do not take Tadalis if you have had an allergic reaction to it or to any of its ingredients. As this drug may sometimes cause dizziness or vision changes, do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything dangerous while on this medication. Combining this with alcohol greatly diminishes your driving abilities, too, aside from inducing other side effects like headaches, dizziness, and lightheadedness. Bottom line: don’t take this with alcohol unless you’re ready to run the risks.
Stick to the dosage set for you as determined by your doctor, taking into consideration your medical condition, how you respond to therapy, and combination of use with other medicines you are presently taking.
Sexual activity is a strenuous activity and puts added pressure on the heart. If you have had heart problems, or have experienced any symptom during sex, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms may range from severe dizziness and nausea to chest pains and even fainting spells.
Use of this drug by the elderly entails even more caution and medical advice. Age is always a factor for various conditions that may be aggravated by the use of this drug. And, as mentioned earlier, this drug is definitely not for the female sex, and definitely not for kids.
Side effects to watch out for
Here’s a rundown of possible side effects during the use of this drug: headache, flushing, upset stomach, nausea, heartburn, runny nose, back pain, muscle pain, color-blindness, and vision-obscuring changes. If you experience any of these while taking the drug, consult your doctor immediately.
Although the likelihood is low, but if you experienced a painful, prolonged erection lasting more than four hours, seek immediate medical attention. Otherwise, you cannot say what permanent damage may occur.
Allergic reaction to Tadalis, while largely unlikely, can occur to some, and in such cases, again seek immediate medical attention. Take note when reactions like rashes, itchiness, unusual swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble in breathing occur.
Overdose
Like any medication, taking the right dose is essential. Overdose, while mostly accidental, is sometimes self-induced. Accidental overdose may manifest itself in back pains, muscle pains, and abnormal vision. In such instances, seek emergency medical assistance at once.
